I think it’s actually going to happen, but it may take a few more months. I work for kind of a supplier to a supplier and we’ve been contracted to make a part labeled
Honda “genaric part”
with the genaric part being the part it is (I don’t like revealing too much online). In some doccuments I’ve seen it labeled as
NSX “genaric part”
and am pretty sure it’s for the NSX. We quoted at 1,200 parts/year, so they’re expecting to make 1,200 or 600, etc (I don’t know how many they use per car). With that quantity and the three important letters “NSX” what else could it be for? Anyway, it’ll probably be a few more months until they’re able to put our parts on whatever car (or bike/generator/other small engine I suppose) it’s destined for. I don’t know their timeline or how their other suppliers are lining up (and maybe the have other suppliers for the part we’re making), but I don’t expect it to start being built until the end of this year at the earliest.

Damn this news sucks. I saw them testing the prototype and ever since I have been following this car. I hope they figure everything out and make a badass machine. Seemed quick when I saw it, so I hope it lives up to the name.

Yea its unfortunate. From the automobile article its twin-turbos and a bespoke engine. geez.
Acura says the main reason for the delay is the change in engine layout that occured midway through the car’s development process. The original plan called for a naturally aspirated V-6, but engineers decided to add turbochargers which necessitated building a bespoke V-6 engine and switching to a longitudinal configuration, adding time to the engineering process.
